‘Merlin’ stars say live theatre is magic

Stars of BBC1’s magical family drama Merlin are the latest stars to support A Night Less Ordinary, the scheme that’s giving more than half a million theatre tickets away free to anyone under 26.
'There’s an idea that theatre is this higher class thing,' says Colin Morgan who plays Merlin, 'and it really isn’t. You don’t have to be dressed up to the nines. It’s a casual, laid back atmosphere...it’s a really great night out.'
As well as talking about their love of live theatre, on the stage and in the stalls, Colin and Bradley have been talking to A Night Less Ordinary about their characters in Merlin, hinting at some of the dramatic things to come in the world of Camelot, and providing glimpses at life behind the cameras on the set of the hit BBC1 show.
'Arthur finding out about Merlin’s magic should happen in a way that shows Arthur can think for himself' says Bradley. 'Arthur needs to witness something so that he knows before Merlin knows that he knows; so that Arthur has to decide what to do.'
'I really hope we do get to see a Merlin blooper reel,' Colin laughs, 'there’s some classic gems in there. There’s a particular scene of Bradley’s horse going into a lake that I’m hoping makes it onto a DVD at some point. I’ll have to make sure it does!'
As Bradley says: 'There aren’t many nutcases who give away free tickets for theatre – so get involved!'
