  Based on Saadat Hasan Manto’s 1955 short story Toba Tek Singh

  Set in Lahore, Tryst takes place at night, beneath the arches of a railway bridge, where a runaway woman’s world collides with an ex lunatic asylum inmate. In their brief meeting, these two tormented souls try to understand the new world order created by the recent Partition in Pakistan, whilst at the same time attempting to come to terms with the trials they are enduring themselves.

  As part of Black History Month, internationally renowned black women storytellers Inno Sorsy and Jan Blake bring their spellbinding storytelling magic to TARA! This truly is SHAKESPEARE WITHOUT THE BORING BITS! Defying society the Duke’s daughter Desdemona secretly marries Othello, a moorish general of the Venetian army and follows him to Cyprus where he must fend off a Turkish invasion. Iago, a junior officer tormented by his lack of promotion plots to turn Othello’s world upside down. Inno Sorsy works with the English National Opera, and the British Museum.

When he is eventually called back to fight, their intimacy interferes with epic political events which could change the entire Mediterranean world. From 2001-2008, Jan Blake was the resident storyteller at the Royal National Theatre.

  The award winning author Alex Wheatle MBE was abandoned by his Jamaican born parents as a young boy and spent his childhood in a brutal children’s home. As a teenager he made a living hustling on the riot-torn streets of Brixton, but after a spell in prison he began to build a new life. Alex’s novels include Brixton Rock and East of Acre Lane.

Following suggestions Bill risks all and sparks off events leading to the greatest chapter in AA’s history.
